To those who aren’t familiar with blog writing, being a blogger may seem like an easy-breezy occupation. After all, you’re being paid to sit down and type out your stream of thoughts, right? This isn’t correct. In fact, being a blogger or content writer requires a lot more, and it is a lot harder than you’d think – especially if you aren’t an especially ‘seasoned’ writer.
Really, you don’t have to be the best writer in the world or hold a degree to run a successful blog. That’s why we here at Artemeis Media are here with some of our top blog writing tips!
Tip #1: Keep it relevant
When blog writing, relevance is important. You can gauge whether your articles will be relevant by understanding the reason your audience follows you, and the niche that you (or your brand) are trying to communicate. If you aren’t sure of this just yet, it may be worth blogging about trending topics. You can find out what’s trending on Google Trends https://trends.google.com/trends/?geo=GB.
Tip #2: Write with passion
Passion is something that people go on about a lot, but having passion in what you’re doing is super important, too – especially in creative fields. Running a blog requires a lot of devotion and a love of the craft. If you aren’t passionate about the writing or the subject matter, then this will permeate through your work, and your readers will detect this. If they detect this, they likely won’t be into your work.
Tip #3: Keep it unique
There are millions of blogs out there. Because of this, it is vital that you keep your content unique, so that it stands out from the rest of them. Individuality resides within us all – if you are able to incorporate your own uniqueness into the medium of words, then you are likely to attract and retain a readership that enjoys your work.
Tip #4: Be consistent
Consistency really is key when it comes to running a successful blog. Really, the quality of your content is just as important as how often you post and update existing content. If you don’t post for a long period of time, your readership is likely to forget about your posts. On top of this, your content may no longer be relevant to them.
Tip #5: Quality > quantity
It may be important to note that being consistent, however, doesn’t mean that people favour constant posts over steady and dependable posts. Often, if you are posting too much, this can lead to reader fatigue, and it will oversaturate your audience. This makes it difficult for them to look forward to your next post. Constantly posting also may mean that the quality of your work is taking a hit, as you’re not spending as much time polishing and refining your work before release.
Tip #6: If you’re unsure, start with WordPress
WordPress is a great tool for bloggers who would like to start their own blog as it is a relatively easy platform to use if you’re new to web development. It also gives bloggers greater control over the look and feel of their blog, and more creative control than any other platform, offering plugin and theme systems that allow you to build any type of site you’d like.
